I haven't read a Clancy in almost a decade. I bought Teeth of the Tiger and never even read it. I like Clancy's early works (Red Storm, Cardinal, Red October particularly) much better than his later stuff and you can completely forget the Ops Center and Ryan, Jr stories. I think he is the king of political 'what-if,' writing about the weaknesses of the Soviet Union long before it fell apart. I did not mind slogging through all the technical details and loved looking at the Soviet Union and its problems through Clancy's eyes, even if I was reading fiction.
