Yesterday, I took a bit of a hiatus from "reading;" I spent the afternoon catching up on a podcast called Lexicon Valley. It's the only podcast that I follow. My son introduced me to it a couple of years ago because they spent an episode talking about Lincoln's Gettysburg Address but until yesterday, I hadn't listen in over a year (my bad!). The hosts, Mike Vuolo and Bob Garfield, and guests talk about words and language--where words come from, how we use various parts of speech, why we use certain words and other matters lexicographic and linguistic. I'm sharing the love: Lexicon Valley has a blog, a Twitter feed and a FB page as well as the above link to its podcasts (to which you can also subscribe in iTunes)..

NB: Each podcast begins with a warning "This podcast contains explicit language" so if you can't get past the use of the 7 words you can't say on TV, you will probably be uncomfortable listening.
