The History of the Medieval World: From the Conversion of Constantine to the First Crusade - Susan Wise Bauer, John Lee

OMG, what a slow read. The author covers it all but it is purely a political history --invasions, regicides, mayhem, changing borders, megalomania, etc. I lost track of gouged out eyes, forced marriages, poisonings, plunder for pleasure and tribute and shifting dynasties and borders.

Three stars --

Oh, yes, and I forgot to mention that it really bugged me that although the book was written by a woman it was read by a man. I would love to hear the reasoning behind that decision.
